In 1935, Emir and James Keene developed the concept and opened what is reputed to be the first cash and carry drive thru lumberyard in the United States.  What a concept it was. Consumers and Do-It-Yourselfers finally had a company to trust when building, or having built their new homes.  Back then they had to haul their own material, and there were no charge accounts but they received better quality of material for 20 to 30 percent less then the competitors were charging. Keene’s legacy is quality materials for a fair price and professional advice.

Today, Keene Lumber Company is a full service provider of building materials for the residential and commercial markets.  Keene has set a standard for professional excellence and ethical behavior for over seventy years.  They have adapted from the early days to provide advice and service for the successful completion of an untold number of projects.
